The stage of the abolition of constitutional courts in the Russian Federation began in Adygea

The term of office of Judge Asker Tlekhatuk, who served as chairman of the Constitutional Court of the republic of Adygea, ends today. This decision was made at a meeting of the Qualification Collegium of Judges of Adygea on April 7 at the request of Mr. Tlekhatuk himself, information about this is posted on the website of the Republican Constitutional Court. The resignation was caused by the fact that the regional constitutional courts in the country are being abolished.

“I was appointed by the deputies of the State Council of Adygea of the last convocation in 2014. I approached my work with great interest. I think that our work with the parliament was built constructively, for which I want to express my gratitude, "- Tlekhatuk said.

He also noted that retirement was his deliberate choice.

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Adygea will continue its work for now; today it includes two judges - Zaurbiy Birzhev and Alexey Petrusenko.

As Kommersant wrote, all constitutional and statutory courts of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation will be abolished by January 1, 2023, and instead of them the regions will have the right to create constitutional and statutory councils under their parliaments.
