On July 27, 1922, the Circassian (Adyghe) Autonomous Region was formed

Ninety-eight years ago, on July 27, 1922, by the decision of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, the Circassian (Adyghe) Autonomous Region was formed on the map of the Soviet of Russia.

Thanks to this step, the regional leadership, headed by Shakhan-Girey Khakurate, in those difficult years managed to quickly create of the governing bodies, consolidate society for creative work and create conditions for the formation of human resources - scientific, creative intelligentsia.

The harsh wartime (1939-1945) became a test for the whole country and, of course, for the people of Adygea, who defended their Motherland with honor. In the difficult post-war years, the region, together with the whole country, revived industry and agriculture. The seventies-eighties became a new stage in the development of the regional economy, culture and education.

In the new republican status (1991), Adygea was one of the first regions of the new Russia to sign the Federal Treaty and became a full-fledged subject of the federation.

Today I want to remind all of us once again that it is labor, social harmony and the unity of the peoples inhabiting the republic are the main guarantee of creativity and movement forward. We must remember with gratitude those who stood at the origins of the formation of Adygea.
