The Republic of Adygea celebrates the Day of Maykop

Today, September 4, the Republic of Adygea celebrates the Day of the Capital City of Maykop. The head of the republic Murat Kompilov congratulated the residents on this day and wished them a good mood, joy and fun.

For this day, an extensive entertainment program was prepared for the residents and guests of the city: a traditional fair, festivals and exhibitions, interactive stages and sports competitions, a program of concerts and festive fireworks.

The capital of the republic is considered one of the most beautiful, clean, comfortable and safe cities in the Russian Federation. In recent years, much has been done to develop and beautify the capital city: improved public spaces and courtyards, restored roads, new clinics, schools and kindergartens.

In the current location of the city, many items made by humans were discovered in the mound (kurgan) Oshad. The age of these items reaches up to five thousand years. The mound "Oshad" is one of the main archaeological sites of the Maykop culture. The mound was located in the territory of modern Maykop, and this culture received its name precisely in the location of mound Oshad.

According to a study done by the archaeologist Nurbi Leupache and who published a book called "Ancient Maykop" there was an ancient settlement in the current location of the city and in which there was a fortress that was built 3200 years ago. Nurbi Leupache's book is written in Russian language. You can get this book through this link: adygbook.ru.
