On July 16,2020, in Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, a competition for entrepreneurial projects "StartUp 5642" was announced under the patronage of the Senator of the upper house of parliament of the Russian Federation and former president of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov. The decision was made in order to support medium and small businesses of the republic, which suffered from the coronavirus pandemic.
Grant support was promised to ten winners, selected by the expert committee:
- to the authors of three projects with new ideas - 1 million rubles each
- two - 500 thousand rubles each
- five - 250 thousand rubles each.
According to the terms of the competition, it was required to provide a project summary and business plan. The winners were selected in two stages. When selecting, the commission took into account the criteria - the emergence of a new product or service and their significance, economic and technical feasibility and sophistication of the business project.
On October 24, 2020, Kanokov announced the results of the competition, announcing that more than 450 projects were submitted to the competition. They cover many spheres of life: from the development of technology for growing organic vegetable products without GMOs to projects in the field of telecommunications.
In addition, projects for the production of natural dairy products, handmade cheeses and cattle breeding were presented. One of the contestants proposes to create an educational and entertainment Internet channel for children in the Circassian language, another - the release of audiobooks dubbed by artists.There is a project to teach English with the opening of a summer language camp for children in the Elbrus region.
Among the ten winning projects were:
- a project of an extreme entertainment attraction "Zipline" - a downhill track on a steel rope, authors A. Akhmatov and A. Kuchmenova.
- tourist glamping of Lake Shadhurei, a new type of ecotourism for lovers of an increased level of comfort, by M. Dumanov.
- production of hoods and denim jackets, by F. Shogenova.
Among the winners were also a project to install vending machines in the city for receiving plastic containers and aluminum cans - fandomats, by A. Mashukov, a project to create a YouTube channel "Legends of the Caucasus". Etc.
Due to the fact that not everyone was satisfied with the results of the competition, Kanokov announced an additional competition "StartUp 5642", under the same conditions. This time, the winners will be selected by voting in social networks.
