"Shards of Heritage" the best film of the Circassian Film Festival

The short film "Shards  of Heritage" by a repatriate from Syria, Uschab Makhush, was recognized as the best film of the Circassian Film Festival.

The festival-contest for the best short film about Circassian's history and culture was held from October 31 on the YouTube with the support of the Circassian Repatriation Organization in Canada. An important precondition was the use of the Circassian (Adyghe) language.

Svetlana Tesheva, the Producer of the Adygea State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company and a jury member, has noted that the main mission is to popularize Circassians' traditions and culture; and Uschab Makhush has fulfilled these conditions.

According to Ms Tesheva, the very start of the film "Splinters of Heritage" impresses with its colourful embodiment and beautiful nature. The Circassian girl finds comfort in her mother tongue – the soul of her nation, she said.

According to Saida Tyulparova, a student from Krasnodar, Uschab Makhush's success, an ordinary girl from Republic of Adygea, will inspire Circassian youth to create films about their homeland.
