Vaccination against COVID-19 in all regions of Russia will begin before the end of the week

The regions announced their readiness for vaccination against COVID-19, the secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova said.

Local authorities were instructed to organize the process, paying particular attention to regions with a small number of vaccination points.

Mass vaccination started in Moscow on Sunday. So far, only teachers, doctors and social workers can get vaccinated, but soon it will become available to everyone. The vaccine is not mandatory but for those who want to get it

To date, more than 150 thousand Russians have already been vaccinated with Sputnik V. This is the world's first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health registered it in mid-August. The vaccine was created at the Gamaleya Center on the basis of a well-studied platform of the human adenovirus vector. In the summer,it successfully completed two stages of research on volunteers between the ages of 18 and 60, who eventually developed an immune response and antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. Post-registration tests are underway.

In the near future, Russians will have the opportunity to be vaccinated against coronavirus with another domestic vaccine - EpiVacKorona from the Novosibirsk Scientific Center Vector. Other Russian vaccines are also being developed.
